What Is AI Slop?

"AI slop" is the filler that AI writing tools produce when they don't have enough real information to work with. Instead of admitting uncertainty, they pad content with vague phrases like "in today's fast-paced business landscape" and "leverage cutting-edge solutions to streamline your workflow."

The problem isn't that AI wrote it — it's that nobody edited it. Unedited AI content hurts search rankings, erodes reader trust, and signals to Google's helpful content system that a page exists to fill space rather than answer questions.

How the scoring works

Five deterministic checks, each scored 0–100, weighted into an overall grade:

Filler vs. Substance (25%) — Counts 69 known filler phrases against specific entities (numbers, names, URLs, dollar amounts).

Cliché Density (20%) — 60+ hedge phrases and buzzwords per 1,000 words.

Specificity (25%) — Percentage of sentences grounded in at least one verifiable fact.

Action Language (15%) — Ratio of action verbs to passive constructions.

Information Gain (15%) — Trigram overlap catches sentences restating earlier content.

The tool auto-detects content type (tutorial, review, comparison, roundup, explainer) and tailors improvement tips. No API calls — pure pattern matching.
